At the 11th Pusan International (Asian) Film Festiva l (PIFF) concluded on Oct. 20th, 2006, BFA graduate Heng Yang won the New Currents Award for the Best New Asian Filmmaker of the Year with his film Betelut together with Love Conquers All by Chui Mui Tan from Malaysia.

　　The two winners were respectively awarded a $30,000 prize. And Betelut "… is selected for its new cinematic value, great acting from all the cast, powerful picture and beautiful silent moments."

　　This year's PIFF enjoyed a large participation and media coverage, with 1204 foreign guests, 1143 South Korean journalists, and 434 foreign journalists.
